Finny is in Trouble- May 29, 2013

So lately Finnegan has been having some problems with biting.  He doesn't do it constantly or anything like that, but if you're playing tug with him he gets way too into it AND BITES.  I don't think he means to hurt you, and he's probably not even doing it intentionally.  But he still does it.  And sometimes it hurts.  A lot.

Yesterday night I was playing tug with Finny and instead of grabbing the rope, he grabbed my hand.  I fully believe it was an accident.  He's not some malicious little devil.  And let me tell you- that little boy bites hard. AND DEEP. He bit me so hard that my hand was bleeding for a good 5 minutes and a definitely cried....

Doesn't look too bad, right?
THAT'S CUZ YOU CAN'T SEE HOW DEEP IT IS. It's basically one tooth hole in my hand that goes pretty deep and it hurts a bunch.  I promise I'm not over exaggerating.

My mom told our club leader about it and she (her name is Martine) decided to take him until Friday.  In exchange we got her cute little puppy, Sandy.  Sandy is a black female born February 23 so she's a few weeks older than Finnegan and considerably larger, too.  She's so sweet! SHE DOESN'T BITE! Hahahaha I'm really hoping Martine can stop his biting because I miss that little boy and don't want to have to stop playing with him for fear that he'll bite me again.

She's a little cutie!

Sandy and me(:

Other than that, Finnegan has made some major improvements!  I think I mentioned this earlier but if not, he has mastered the commands "come" and "sit" which is very exciting, especially since he's only 10 weeks old!
We set up a YouTube account for him so we could post videos of his achievements and such since this website doesn't let me upload videos directly from my iPad :(

Here's a link to the video of him doing come!

He's also gone several days without any accidents and is still accident free in his crate (except for his first night but that was expected)! His barking at night went away after the first week, but his whining in the morning has yet to stop.  I think once he's more adjusted to the schedule we have him on he'll be ok (that and when his bladder gets bigger lol).

Finny still sleeps in the most awkward positions imaginable.
Seriously, how can sleeping on piano pedals be the least bit comfortable?!

Not to mention this....

On Finnegan's Facebook page we have an album of pictures we take every Saturday (his birthday) of him with his favorite toy.  The idea is to see how much he grows weekly, and to be able to see how much he will have grown in the year we had him.  This is his 10 week old picture:

In comparison to the first picture I took of him with this toy, you can definitely tell he's grown a little bit (how sad)!

Also, here's a lozy pic for fun:
In case you're wondering why there's a giraffe on his head, you can find out by watching my Vines!  Almost every single Vine is of him doing funny things and they're super adorable!  My vine name is MeganCrowley18

A Week's Worth of Updates- May 25, 2013

So it's been like a week since I've posted anything.  Lol sorry.

Finnegan has gotten so much better sleeping in his crate.  He doesn't have accidents at night, and his barking is getting better.  He went a few days without having any accidents in the house but the past two days he's had quite a few.  We might take him into the vet to check for a bladder infection because he's going potty like every 10 minutes.  Seriously.

We didn't do anything super eventful in the past couple of days, though Finnegan did get to meet a bunch of my friends!  Wednesday my mom brought Finny with her to pick me up from my last AP test. Obviously, he was a big hit.

Finnegan especially liked my friend, Annie.  I think he thought her purple hair was pretty cool(;

He does this hilarious thing where, instead of laying on the ground like a normal dog, he lays like this:

Seriously dog.  What are you doing?

He has also started to sit like this:

I don't even know.

This week was a big week for Finnegan, as we celebrated having had him for one week, as well as his 10 week old birthday!  He turned ten weeks today and I can already tell he's grown a little bit bigger!

Here are some various pictures from this last week:

(Kristin and Finnegan)

He loves to sleep under the dishwasher...what a weirdo.

Triton goes back; another puppy meeting-May 20, 2013

0Saturday night was our last night with Triton, so we took him to one of his favorite places to play.

There's this little lake right by our house and Triton loves to play in it.  We thought it would be fun for him to play there one last time.  As expected, he had an amazing time.

Lol look how filthy he got.

I love this picture of Triton and me because look at his face.  His face says it all.

I won't go into much about Sunday because it was awful.  Sunday morning we drove up to where we were meeting the puppy truck, as well as a few other dogs from our club who were going back early, too.  Everyone was crying.  Everyone.  I thought I would be ok, but I wasn't.  Putting Triton on the truck was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced.

I've got some lovely red eyes and a great runny nose.

A few of the dogs from our club who went back on Sunday (Triton & Kristin are on the far left).

Kristin & Triton's last picture together.

We took Finnegan with us and it turns out it was a great decision.  He was basically a teddy bear for everyone who gave up a dog; very therapeutic.

Later that day when we got home, we took Finnegan out back to try the pool again.

This time, he seemed to really enjoy it.

Lol that eye hahaha😂😂

We also tried making Finny look cute with a bow but that didn't work out so well...he didn't really like it.

One good pic hahaha

Today we had our weekly baby puppy meeting.  We worked on teaching the puppies "sit" and "down."  We also let the puppies play around on the floor, and took them on little walks.

Look how cute he is in his jacket!

Aww cute babies!

Finny & Verbena are going to be great friends!

Lol Finnegan why do you lay like that?

Duh, dog!! I don't know why he thinks this is how a puppy should lay!

Awwww
He's so cute I can't even.

So that's where we are for today.  Finnegan has gotten a lot better about whining in his crate, and has had a lot fewer accidents! He's such a good little puppy!!

Puppy Meeting! May 18, 2013

Today we had a special training meeting for people raising guide dogs this year.  We were told we had to bring Finnegan, even though the meeting was going to be three hours long.  Kristin got up with baby around 6 (he did his internal barking alarm again) and played with him while I slept in.  It was lovely.

This was Finnegan's first real outing and I expected him to be kind of naughty, as it was going to be pretty long. But no. He slept the entire time.

We were instructed to get into pairs and have the puppies practice taking food from our hands.  My friend Parker and I paired up and tried to work with Finny but he just plopped on the ground.  Every time. Now, Parker is a dog whisper.  You think I'm kidding. Even he couldn't get Finnegan to wake up!  So while everyone else worked with their puppies, we sat there and mooned over Finny's cuteness.

When you try to hold Finnegan while he's asleep, he'll put up with it for about 5 minutes. But then he starts to squirm and you have to put him down.  So when Parker picked up the sleeping baby I expected him to sit still for a few minutes then get pretty fussy.  But no.  He sat with Parker for a good 20 minutes.

Dog whisperer, remember?

Not even gonna lie, I was pretty jealous.

I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the dog whisperer thing, or maybe they just have a man connection. Whatever it was, Finnegan loved Parker and slept in his arms for most of the time.

Finnegan got to do a demonstration of "Go to bed!" and did really well!  It was the only time he wasn't asleep!  We learned how to get him used to the gentle leader, and got some great tips on how to keep him quiet in his crate!  Overall, it was a great trip for Finny!

The car ride home was especially cute.  Triton and Finnegan cuddled in the back seat.  Talk about adorable.

Finnegan did a lot better in the car today than when we first got him!  He fell right asleep, a welcome change after his rambunctious behavior last time.

Triton was also extra cute in the car.  Actually, he's never not cute.  Today is his last day with us and so we're trying to spend as much time and take as many pictures as possible.

I'll probably do a special post tomorrow just for him so y'all can see how amazing he is and how much we all love him.  Having him with me has definitely changed my life for the better and I'm so grateful for the opportunity I've had to work with him.
